Villa Maria OpeningOn Wednesday 18th August, Villa Maria’s new facility at Austin Street Alphington was officially opened. A purpose specific residence built for young people requiring high level complex care is the first facility of its kind in Victoria. Villa Maria’s ‘Austin Street’ built by Allmore Constructions is a 10 bed facility designed to provide accommodation and 24 hour care and support for young people with acquired brain injury and their families. Austin Street features state of the art technology to increase the amount of comfort and choice for each resident.
The facility was opened by Professor David de Kretser, AC Governor of Victoria, and Mrs Jan de Kretser, Villa Maria’s Patrons-in-Chief. They were accompanied by The Hon Lisa Neville, MP Minister for Mental Health, Senior Victorians and Community Services, The Hon Bill Shorten, Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children's Services and Villa Maria’s Chief Executive Officer Ms Valerie Lyons.
